Are you tired of JUNK MAIL????

Do you have a problem with the postal service refusing to abide by it's own rules and regulations? If so read about the ongoing problem I have had for almost three years and the ways I have attempted to reconcile this problem.

Currently the Postal Service is threatened with cost overruns they are not able to reconcile. These are a result of the use of Bulk Mail. The problem is too many businesses are turning to Bulk Mail to contact their customer base. This coupled with the efforts of The Direct Marketing Association have severely crippled the United States Postal Service's profitability. Quite simply this is the reason the United States Postal Service is trying to cut Saturday delivery.

Again the general public is made to pay the freight for those that refuse to do so. The general public, i.e., you and me do not use bulk mail to communicate. We pay the extra to mail our letters but for some that is not enough. The DMA, (Direct Marketing Association), fights for more and more rights over your mailbox. The United States Postal Service intentionally or unintentionally aids the DMA in their efforts by lying to the general public about the DMA and their rights to refuse mail.

I sent off a letter to the Postmaster General's office in Washington DC to obtain a way to stop junk mail and the response was, "Contact the DMA or the list seller to be removed". Now when pushed to answer my question this was about all I received. So anyway if you are as tired of junk mail and wish to help stop it I have started a listserv for that purpose.

The listserv is simply us helping each other to stop junk mail. Being the one that started this I have most of the information for California residents to stop junk mail in the manner described below.

Stopping Junk Mail

Now just trying to get yourself off of the junk mailer's list will not stop junk mail. This is being tried with various others with only limited success. To require the carrier to carry the junk mail two ways, (from the Post Office to the resident and then from the resident back to the Post Office), seems to me the only real way to stop junk mail. The cost and burden will be placed onto the carrier for the short run. This is pretty much unavoidable given the amount of lobbying the DMA does with our legislators. However, in the long run the Postal Service will not be able to eat these cost and will themselves be forced to do something about it.

Granted their attempt to discontinue Saturday delivery as a result of Bulk Mail is one method they will try. This is an outrage to say the least. The general Public made to suffer for the benefit of the few.
